A Woman Sleeping

artwork by Januz Miralles (with permission)
through splendid isles and cities
brilliant particles
mad with love
beautiful as snow
hovering over water lilies
like nests of mad kisses
over seas of broken russets

in each soft corner
nubile and full-blooded:
a woman in vegetation
like great blooms
in sacred woods
embroidered with black moss

the horizon rushes
against indiscreet trees
oh, river water,
into the ferocious tide you rip
in long violet coagulation

Household Chores

"Pears of Promise" graphite on paper
by Cristina Querrer

dirty dishes frozen
in last night's ecstasy
reminds me of
years we try
to recover from
yesterday's scraps

clothes sprawled
on the floor
intertwined &
twisted are we

spurs catching
our ankles
irritating us again
forest or jungles
no matter which
the snarl

returning scrapes
fill our days in
such scarcity of
softness in
abundance of

detergent & deceit
stained shirts
trapped lint
losing socks & sleep

infinite imbroglios
dreaming of dirges
gathering the bills
his passwords
to the past
recessing & recoiling

Pictured Woman

somewhere where
my body
starts/ends
somewhere where
I give it
all away do I
lose it all
in order for you
to do it again

kindness is lost
there by the door
swinging wide onto
a sex scene
thrusting tentacles
trust you to
come into me
but not only me
transient/frozen
freeze it there

what is left
magnifiers zoom
into that hotel room
with the mirrored
closet & disgusting
bed spread splayed
wide open

legs & hands in between
her faceless chin
her gnarly thumb at
picture's corner
next to the naked body

picture is worth
thousand of those
flashbacks
thrusting into me
there it is again
she is me or am I now
her in front of that mirror

a faceless chin
my pleasure sir
take a picture
to please you &
pass it on

throw my trail
of lovers back at me
for imagination's
far more real
than pure pornography
you say
